Red Pheasant Cree Nation is a proud Plains Cree First Nation and Treaty 6 signatory located in the Eagle Hills of Saskatchewan.
ᒥᑭᓯᐘᒌᕽ (mikisiwacîhk) (At Eagle Hills) — Red Pheasant Cree Nation, known in Cree as mikisiwacîhk (ᒥᑭᓯᐘᒌᕽ), "at Eagle Hills", is a Plains Cree First Nation whose people historically hunted and fished along the Battle River. Chief Wuttunee, who led the people at the time, appointed his brother, Chief Red Pheasant, to sign Treaty 6 on behalf of the Band on September 9, 1876. In 1878 the band settled on its reserve in the Eagle Hills, Red Pheasant 108, which covers 62,538 acres about 33 kilometres south of North Battleford.
The Nation's guiding focus is Miyo-Pimatisiwin (The Good Life): building a safe, healthy community where youth can thrive, the Cree language, nēhiyaw, is spoken, and Elders are honoured. As of November 2025 the Nation has 2,793 members, with 858 living on reserve and 1,935 living off reserve.
As a member of Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC), the Nation offers housing, employment and training, income assistance, sports and recreation, and economic development services. It owns 14,000 acres of land in several communities around the province, including 78.3 acres in Saskatoon, and is developing the Eagles Landing urban reserve. It also has partnerships in energy and agriculture, and in 2026 the community broke ground on a $25M youth centre.
The Nation is led by Chief Cody Benson and Council for the term from March 18, 2024 to March 18, 2028. Learn more at the Red Pheasant Cree Nation website.
